FAQ’S
The first step is to check if the model, format and quality that is printed on the box matches the order description. The next step is to open several boxes and check that the model indicated on the boxes corresponds to the one mentioned on the delivery note. Once the product has been checked, we will proceed to prepare the surface where it is going to be laid, which must be clean and plumb. If the product is a pavement, it should be laid out on the surface to see the effect. For modular placement of the product, it should be requested to the factory that the tone and caliber are compatible.
It is very important to check the product supplied before installation, as no claim will be accepted on a product already installed. Therefore, if any anomalies are observed in the product, they must be reported before it is installed.
The choice of adhesive material depends on the characteristics of the surface to be laid, the type of ceramic material, climatic conditions and use.
Recommended adhesive: H40 Eco Flex by Kerakoll – C2 E adhesive according to UNE 12004/12002. Highly deformable for laying porcelain products, indoors and outdoors. Especially recommended for laying glued facades, underfloor heating, high traffic, overlaying… available in white and grey.
For its application it is important to use the recommended tools (rubber mallet, rubber grouting trowel, notched trowel, etc.).
The sides of the pieces must be clean and they must be placed perfectly aligned.
For best results we recommend the PEYGRAN ceramic levelling system.
- – Adjust the pliers to the thickness of the ceramic. Insert the shims
- – Place the next piece and insert the wedges
- – Tighten the wedges with pliers.
- – Continue placing the adjacent pieces, performing the same operation.
- – Once the glue has set, break the shims with a sharp blow in the direction of the joint.
Afterwards, recover the wedges. For the installation of a “locked joint”, the pieces must be placed separated by a maximum of 20% of their total length. Except in the Chelsea collection, where we advise not to exceed 15%. The DURSTONE porcelain product is rectified with a micro-bevel to avoid sharp edges. The joint for this type of product must be 2 mm indoors and up to 3 mm outdoors. To seal the joint, we must use specific material (we recommend Fila MP/90); this sealing must always be done with a rubber trowel once the adhesive has set, and always respecting the application time of the material. Afterwards, the joint must be cleaned with a damp sponge.
For spaces larger than 8 m2, a 5 mm joint must be left around the entire perimeter; for spaces larger than 50 m2 indoors and 30 m2 outdoors, a partition joint must be used to absorb possible movements.
Once the grouting is finished, the excess material must be removed before it dries and hardens and it must be cleaned using non-abrasive products, avoiding the use of hydrofluoric acids. It must then be cleaned (we recommend DETERDEK or Fila PS/87).
Once the installation is complete, it is important to cover the entire floor with cardboard or other elements to avoid damaging the product already installed.
For the removal of dust and solid residues: by sweeping or vacuuming.
It is recommended not to use dust-catching mops with silicones and waxes (products that polish the pieces and therefore alter the surface of the ceramic).
The surface should be washed with neutral soap and the amount of hot water recommended by the manufacturer.
Cleaning products with polishes, waxes or similar additives should not be used, as over time they can leave a waterproof layer on the ceramic that alters its surface appearance. If you have used them, to correctly remove these products, apply a powder cleaner with a little water to the affected surface with a cloth, rub gently, then rinse and dry with paper.
Before using any chemical product for cleaning, it is necessary to check its effect on the surface of the ceramic or porcelain product, using it on a non-visible area to see the effect left by the chemical product.
With polished porcelain floors, great care must be taken both during initial and subsequent cleaning, since the polishing process opens the micropores of the surface, which means that they are more vulnerable to stains from certain liquids. It is also very important that any product that could affect them (oil, carbonated or alcoholic drinks, acids, etc.) must be cleaned with water as soon as possible to prevent the floor from becoming stained.
For installation, the PEYGRAN ceramic levelling system is recommended.
For porcelain products, Fila MP/90 sealing is recommended. For cleaning and maintenance, Fila CLEANER is recommended.
